If you need to carry out investigations, disturb the Authority’s coal interests or perform deep drilling through coal for other purposes, then you will need to apply for a permit to enter our property.

Licences are required for the mining of or exploration for coal, underground coal gasification, incidental coal recovery and exploration and exploration/exploitation of coal methane.
- Apply for a permit to disturb, enter or intersect coal.
- Apply for a licence to mine or explore Coal Authority interests.
Local Authority planners and property developers:

We are a consultee in the Development Plans and Development Management processes to ensure that full consideration is given to safe, sustainable development regarding the risks from the legacy of coal mining and the future exploitation of coal resources.
