Implementation of the Penfold Review.
The Penfold Review was established to explore whether the process for obtaining non-planning consents is delaying or discouraging business investment and to identify areas where there is scope to support investment by streamlining processes, removing duplication and improving working practices.
The following recommendations from the Review have been implemented by the Coal Authority with regards to licensing applications:
Determination of Licensing Applications
The Coal Authority:
- Will normally make a coal licensing decision within five weeks of an application being deemed complete.
- Will normally grant a permission to investigate or treat its coal estate within four weeks of an application being deemed complete.
Determination of all complete applications will be made within 13 weeks.
