Transparency at the Coal Authority
Government has set out the need for greater transparency across its operations to enable the public to hold public bodies and politicians to account. This includes commitments relating to public expenditure, intended to help achieve better value for money.
Current and archived monthly expenditure reports, which include all payments made by the Authority (from April 2010 to date) are now available on data.gov.uk. Some of the data that the Coal Authority publishes is available on these pages but data.gov.uk brings all Government data together in one searchable website. Making this data easily available means it will be easier for people to make decisions and suggestions about government policies based on detailed information.

Contracts and Tenders
All Coal Authority contract awards and current requirements (over £10,000) are now published on the Business Link Contracts Finder.
Documents published on Contracts Finder relate to both live and closed opportunities with government departments and agencies. Live opportunities are still open for businesses to bid for. Closed ones are no longer open for bidding because the procurement process has moved on to the next stage.
Suppliers and those organisations looking to bid for public sector contracts should be aware that if they are awarded a new Government contract, the resulting contract and payments between the supplier and Government will be published. In some circumstances, limited redactions will be made to some contracts before they are published in order to comply with existing law and for the protection of national security.
